TDK Life on Record brand claims to have become the first company to start shipping new 6x write-once Blu-ray discs to the European market.
TDK says with data transfer speeds of 216Mbps they cut down recording time of a full 25GB disc to approximately 17 minutes.
The discs are compatible with recorders from a variety of manufactures and can playback at any speed.
The discs are protected by DURABIS2 coating, which claims to ensure the discs are scratch, light and dust resistant.
Recommended retail pricing is set at 17.99 euros for 25GB BD-R and 44.99 euros for 50GB BD-R, available in autumn 2008.
