As was rumoured, Sony has launched its alpha 900 digital SLR with the claim that it's the world's first full-frame 24.6-megapixel DSLR.

The new flagship of the alpha DSLR range features the industry’s first ever 24.6 effective megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor.

The camera features dual BIONZ processors for speedy image data handling and gets a ground-glass optical pentaprism viewfinder.

With a 9-point AF system, there's also 10 focus assist points, anti-shake correction, and a 3-inch Xtra Fine LCD with an with 921k dot resolution and an "Intelligent" preview function.

Sony claims the camera has a rugged build, with rubber seals and gets an internal anti-dust system.

The A900 full-frame digital SLR will be available from October 2008 along with a range of lenses, all pricing to be confirmed.
