Philips launch portable digital radio

PRESS RELEASE: Philips is guaranteeing style, top quality and complete consumer confidence with the launch of the company's first portable DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) radio. Whether at home or on the move, the DA1000 tunes into the wide range of crystal-clear digital radio stations to deliver broadcasts in near CD-quality.

Small, attractive and lightweight the DA1000 weighs just 100 grams with the sleek design incorporating a backlight for clearer viewing and a joystick for simple control. The dot matrix LCD display clearly exhibits text that accompanies most DAB broadcasts which includes programme information, the latest news and sports scores.

The DA1000 enjoys excellent sound quality and offers six EQ settings - including Rock, Jazz and Classical modes - allowing you to tailor sound depending on personal music taste.

Alternatively you can also tune into the vast array of stations transmitted in high quality FM with the DA1000 automatically offering the 'best ten' based on reception quality. A signal strength indicator is also included for easy manual tuning while up to 20 of your favourite DAB and FM presets can be stored in the memory for immediate access

The DA10000 is powered by two rechargeable AA batteries that offer up to a massive ten hours of playback after charges, and when used in the home it can be driven directly by the mains. A carry pouch is provided for comfortable portability
