Vers Audio has launched a version of its Vers 2X iPod sound system in bamboo for those of a "more sustainable mind-set".

The wood is selected from managed plantation sources, there's also 100% post-consumer recycled packaging materials and energy-efficient components for truly green option.

"Bamboo is a truly amazing plant - it grows incredibly fast, is harvested and finished by hand and looks absolutely beautiful", says David Laituri, co-founder of Vers.

"It is by far the most sustainable, renewable 'wood' material on the planet. When combined with 3/8-inch thick cabinet walls, it sounds more natural as well."

The bamboo 2X - as well models with other non-organic wood finishes - is available now for $179.
