Be, not content in offering 24 meg broadband in the UK, has also announced that it will be increasing its upload speeds to 1.3 meg rather than the usual 256Kbps.

The company is sighting the move to allow its members to run new services which require higher upload speeds such as VoIP, video conferencing, security surveillance and place shifting.

‘This upload speed will transform the capability for anyone wanting to upload content from pictures to pod-casts to place-shifting', comments Dana Pressman, Managing Director of Be. ‘It will make content sharing much easier and let users get far more out of the Internet than ever before'.

The new upload speed will be implemented on all of Be's services.
