Apple to launch interactive album apps

Snow Patrol's new release to be first

Apple is collaborating with Snow Patrol to create an interactive album application for the iPhone and iPod touch, Music Week reports.

The application will be available to download via the App Store and will offer fans extra content including artwork, pictures, lyrics "and more".

Apparently the first time such an application has been made available: "It will be an interactive element; a digital booklet that will take you into the videos and content", a Polydor exec told Music Week.

This would possibly seem to pave the way for other artists to offer the same kind of thing, so watch this space...
