JVC has chosen IFA as the venue to launch its first foray into the Blu-ray market with the introduction of the NX-BD3 that the company will offer as a 2.1-channel Network Media System with Blu-ray disc player.

JVC claims that the NX-BD3 warrants a "world's first" accolade as it is the first DLNA certified Blu-ray Player, front surround speakers, and a subwoofer with amplifier.

The player offers Blu-ray Full HD resolution, with Deep Colour and x.v.Colour in 1080p HDMI output and is Profile 1 ver. 1.1 compliant, with features like Bonus View as well as LAN connectivity.

The DLNA 1.5 certification means the system will allow file playback via wired and wireless home network, there's an SD card slot and the machine is also DivX certified.

The speakers have two left/right pairs of drivers in the two speaker units each deliver front and surround channels respectively and are teamed with a "powerful" subwoofer.

Pricing is said to be around the £800 mark when it launches towards the end of the year.
