Google has revealed details of its plans for the mobile marketplace for Android applications - its direct competitor to Apple's seemingly successful App Store. In a blog post on the developer's site for the mobile phone operating system, Eric Chu writes:
"I'm happy to share early details of Android Market - an open content distribution system that will help end users find, purchase, download and install various types of content on their Android-powered devices."
It seems Android developers will be able to make their content available to consumers on an open service that will feature a feedback and rating system that Chu describes as similar to YouTube.
In what's being seen as a dig at Apple, Chu states: "We chose the term 'market' rather than 'store' because we feel that developers should have an open and unobstructed environment to make their content available". Phones, Google, Android, Mobile phone industry, Apps
