Amazon ends new Kindle speculation

No new models this year

It seems an Amazon exec has spoken out to end the speculation rife in the blogosphere that the company are imminently to launch new models of their Kindle e-book reader.

Craig Berman, Amazon’s chief spokesman, has spoken to New York Times writer Brad Stone that the rumours - supposedly from two different inside sources at the e-commerce company - are only that.

"Don’t believe everything you read", Berman said. "There’s a lot of rumor and speculation about the Kindle. One thing I can tell you for sure is that there will be no new version of the Kindle this year. A new version is possible sometime next year at the earliest."
