Pocket-lint managed to get hands on the new Amilo Mini Ui 3520, which we first bought you news of at the beginning of August.

Measuring only 32.2 x 17.5cm and featuring an 8.9in non-glare display, the Amilo netbook features the Intel Atom N270 processor, supported by 1GB RAM and a 60 or 80GB harddrive, with a 120GB version promised by December. The mini notebook comes with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.

Other tech specs include the normal Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on-board, two USB, VGA, Ethernet, 4-in-1 SD card reader and mic and headphone sockets. To help you keep in touch with friends on the move, you’ll also find a built-in 1.3-megapixel webcam and array microphone.

But, Fujitsu Siemens, ever keen to point out the unique features of their notebooks, emphasised the "design language", as the Amilo comes in the new black and white livery unveiled earlier in the year. But adding a twist to this, it will also come with clip-on covers, a wonderful rouge in the box and further options available separately, including a transparent cover so you can add your own creative flare to your notebook lid.

The netbook will also uniquely feature an ExpressCard slot, which as Bjorn Fehrm, head of Strategy and Innovation Consumer, EMEA, at FSC explained, "is intended for the addition of 3G connectivity". He explained that an integrated solution would have led to a "100 euro increase on the retail price".

The Amilo Mini comes with a four-cell battery delivering 2.5 hours of mobile fun, whilst a six-cell optional battery will give you 4 hours. As it weighs in at under a kilo, this is a portable option indeed.

The Amilo Mini Ui 3520 will be available for 399 euros from October.
