  • Great machine with good spec for money invloved.

Had it for two days now but, had problem immediately.

You must REMOVE BULLGUARD 7 before you install any WINDOWS UPDATES. I didnt know this and bullguard froze my whole computer!

The techies at Medion are very helpful and told me to start back up in safe mode and remove BG7 and install BG8 or A N Other. There are issues with windows updates and BG7 not working together.

Works great now, but i was distraught when it froze!

  • This base unit is now down to £499.

You'll probably want to do a fresh installation of Vista to get rid of all the crap that's pre-installed on the system and if you are considering playing any games you'll NEED to upgrade the measly graphics card and the 350Watt PSU.

To my surprise the Disc drive is actually an LG drive capable of reading both HD-DVDs and BDs , however you are only provided with software to play BDs.

I now have a more capable PSU and GPU (HD 4850) installed in mine and it's fantastic for games HD-DVDs, Blu-ray discs and anything else that I can throw at it.

  • I purchased this computer about 2 weeks ago and I think there's something wrong with it lol..so i'm looking for some help or confirmation that there is a fault. Every so often upon switching the machine on it takes what seems a lifetime to boot itself up. I get the intel logo screen then when that disappears it takes up to about 2 to 2½ mins to get to the windows corporation screen with the green lines scrolling left to right and then it boots up fine....

If the computer has been on and then turned off for just a little while (i.e less than 12 hours or so) it seems to boot up normally.

Can anyone help me with this issue or should I just take it back for another one?

    Cheers.

  • I too have this problem - although not with the above mentioned Medion - but the model that came out in October 2007 (the 2.66 duo core version).

I assume it may be down to Vista as my comp spec is pretty good. I have upgraded the power supply to 800w and and got the ATI 4870 graphics card also upgraded the ram and now have about 7Gb Ram (2 running at about 600Mhz and 2 high performance ones running at 800Mhz) Although i have now found out that Vista 32bit edition can only run at a max of 3.7GB Ram DOH.
