HTC has launched the S740, describing it as a slim, compact, and stylish smartphone that offers a standard 12-key phone design as well as a sliding QWERTY keyboard.

Said to follow in the design footsteps of the Touch Diamond, this new Windows 6.1 smartphone features a matt black facetted back, a 2.4-inch QVGA display.

Designed to offer "the most flexible and efficient messaging experience on the market", as well as the two types of keypad, there's support for POP3, IMAP and Exchange push email and instant messaging too.

The HTC S740 offers maximum download speed of up to 7.2Mbps, an integrated RSS reader, a 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS and AGPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and microSD card slot.

Measuring in at 116.3 x 43.4 x 16.3mm and weighing 140 grams, the HTC S740 will be available across Europe from September 2008, pricing not revealed.
