We may have had the specs last week, but Canon has now officially launched its new 15.1-megapixel snapper. The EOS 50D is built around a CMOS sensor, Canon’s latest DIGIC 4 image processor and a 3.0-inch clear view VGA LCD screen.
Key specs worth a quick mention are the 6.3 frames per second shooting speeds in bursts of up to 90 JPEGs with a UDMA card, ISO levels of 3200, expandable to an ultra-sensitive 12,800, and the improved Self Cleaning Sensor Unit with a new fluorine coating which reduces, repels and removes unwanted dust from the sensor.
And before, we didn't have the price, but Canon has now confirmed that the EOS 50D (body only) will be available from end of September 2008 priced at £1199.99 or €1599.99.
There will also be the EOS 50D EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM kit, will be £1499.99 or €1949.99 RRP.
