Right now, a team of eagle eyed developers are working away in Vancouver on a new tennis game.

EA has revealed it has set a team to work on recreating "the excitement, tension and drama that true champions feel in legendary matches".

And the game will arrive next year designed specifically for the Nintendo Wii (cue lots more opportunity for gaming related injuries).

Details are scant at the mo but we do now it will be the first EA Sports game that uses Nintendo’s upcoming Wii MotionPlus accessory for the Wii Remote.

And matches will be "played" at the All England Lawn Tennis Club – home of The Championships, Wimbledon.

Peter Moore, president, EA Sports did say, predictably, that this will be a game worth waiting for: "As we look to expand the EA Sports brand and captivate sports fans from around the world with rich new interactive experiences, it was obvious that the renaissance we’re seeing in the sport of tennis provides us with a big opportunity".

"Our new tennis franchise, coming first to the Wii, will put fans right into the action."
