The latest copier from Canon is aimed at small businesses and home offices.

The imageCLASS D480 delivers print and copy speeds of up to 23 pages-per-minute for letter-sized output, and outputs the first print and copy pages in around nine seconds, Canon says.

It comes with a 250-sheet front-loading paper cassette, and is capable of copying documents up to 8.5 x 14 inches which are feed through the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

You also get a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface in this machine.

But most importantly, it is capable of several functions at the same time so there's an output mode for printing, copying and receiving faxes, and an input mode for copying, scanning and faxing.

It is also claimed to cut down on paper wastage as it can print documents on both sides of a piece of paper, including incoming faxes.

Scanning is at a resolutin of 9600dpi and in 24-bit colour.

And Canon adds that the new machine uses its Single Cartridge System, which combines the toner, drum and development unit in one cartridge.

The imageCLASS D480 multifunction copier will be available from 22 September for $399.

There's no news on a UK launch as yet.
