Symantec buy PC Tools
Looks to improve software range

Symantec has announced that it is to acquire software maker PC Tools in a hope to gain even more control in the spyware and registry fixing software market.
The company, famous for its Spyware Doctor and Registry Mechanic software is expected to become a part of Symantec by the end of the year.
Although financial terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed at present, Symantec say it hopes to have the deal tied up before Christmas, presumably so it can start making money off PC purchases in the new year.
According to a press statement released on Monday, it appears "regional markets" and "go-to-market capabilities" are the reason for the deal.
Symantec say that PC Tools will maintain separate operations and will continue to offer products under the red not yellow packaging.
