Sony 80GB PS3 lands a week early
Retailers pull launch date forward
18 August 2008 13:20 GMT / By Stuart Miles
Sony's 80GB PlayStation 3 model touted for the 27 August seems to have been brought forward a week in the UK.
The new model, which was promised by SCEE boss David Reeves earlier this year, has just shown up on Amazon and Play.com priced at £299.99 with a 22 August rather than 27 August launch date.
In July Reeves said: "PS3 80GB - we will introduce this in the PAL markets on August 27, it will be a simultaneous release. It will come in at EUR 399, GBP 299, and we will be doing promotional bundles from the middle of September to the end of December at various prices ... the 80GB replaces the 40GB".
No retailers have announced any bundle deals at present, nor have Sony officially confirmed the move of date.
We will keep you posted.
