Dedicated channel for petrol heads

You can watch it on normal TV, you can watch it all through the night on the iPlayer and if you just simply haven't had your fill of Top Gear, there's now a dedicated YouTube channel.

The new channel, www.youtube.com/topgear, will feature clips from the show and interviews with celebrity car enthusiasts, including Jamiroquai and Simon Cowell who competed twice to knock each other off the top of the leader board racing a "reasonably priced car" round the Top Gear track.

There may be dedicated channels for, for example, Number 10 Downing Street, but this is the first time that BBC Worldwide has launched a dedicated section on YouTube for a single programme.

Simon Danker, director of digital media at BBC Worldwide, said the corporation has decided to expand BBC Worldwide’s portfolio of channels "to reflect the online popularity of certain programme brands".

In addition to Top Gear clips, the channel with feature content from the presenters’ other shows including Jeremy Clarkson’s MotorWorld, Clarkson’s Car Years, Clarkson’s Extreme Machines and Richard Hammond Meets Evel Knievel.
