Announcement mooted for next month

This is straight from The New York Times via Engadget so it's got to be right.

There have been rumours of delays, of spats between Google and Android developers, but now T-Mobile is claiming it is close to bringing out an Android device.

And is also saying that its will be the first.

According to "people briefed on the company's plans", the newspaper says that the HTC phone will go on sale in the US "before Christmas, perhaps as early as October".

The paper's secretive sources also say that it will be a five-row QWERTY slider.

Now T-Mobile is just waiting for FCC approval for the phone but we should all expect a "three-way Google, T-Mobile, and HTC announcement as early as September".
