Logitech acquires Ultimate Ears

$34 million deal for earphone outfit

Electronista has kept its ears to the ground (geddit) and heard a bit of goss from the audio industry.

Apparently Logitech has bought earphone expert Ultimate Ears for around $34 million.

This means that Logitech will now be able to add in-canal earphones to its product range - and bring new customers in - ranging from people who want decent quality sound whilst bopping to the iPod to audiophiles for whom music is their business.

Logitech is now waiting for approval for the deal but Electronista suggests that it could go through by the end of August.

It hasn't now, however, given anything away in terms of future product launches or what the takeover will mean for Ultimate Ears' staff or current line-ups.

However - as always - we'll keep an ear out for more news.
