Dell has today announced a new line of Latitude laptops on Tuesday, but failed, as Pocket-lint reported earlier, to officially launch the much rumoured netbook shown off by Michael Dell eariler in the year.

The new Latitude systems, which promise a whopping 19 hours of battery life will be made up of seven models covering ultra-portable, mainstream, essential, and semi-rugged areas.

On the ultra-portable front there will be the Dell Latitude E4200 and E4300. The E4200 is a 12.1-inch laptop that starts at 1.0k while the 13.3-inch Latitude E4300 has a starting weight of 1.54 kg.

On the mainstream front there will be the Dell Latitude E6400 and E6500, 14.1- and 15.4-inch laptops that start at £709 £729. According to Dell they will be the ideal systems for desktop replacements for high-performance users.

The essential models according to dell is the Latitude E5400, a 14.1-inch notebook that will cost £469, and the E5500, a 15.4-inch notebook will cost £469.

The semi-rugged offering comes in the guise of the Latitude E6400 ATG and is a 14.1-inch semi-rugged laptop that starts at £899. It will be available next week. It is built and tested to meet Military 810F standards for dust, vibration and humidity.

Dell will offer colours for the first time on Latitude laptops. In addition to Mica-Brushed Metal, the Latitude E4200, E4300, E6400 and E6500 will be available with Regatta Blue, Regal Red and Quartz Pink (E4200 only) in the coming weeks. The E5400 and E5500 are available in Matte Black.
