Canon USA has added three new colour image scanners to its CanoScan line-up - the CanoScan 5600F, CanoScan LiDE200 and CanoScan LiDE100.

All three boasts Canon's new Auto Scan Mode which means that the scanner will recognise the type of document when the new dedicated "SCAN" button is pressed, then scan and save the document with the suitable settings automatically.

By using Auto Scan Mode, users can reduce the scanning process from eight steps down to two, claims the manufacturer.

There are seven "EZ Buttons" on the CanoScan 5600F scanner and four on the CanoScan LiDE200 and LiDE100, which enables consumers to quickly copy, scan, e-mail or create a PDF file "with just one push of a button".

The CanoScan 5600F can scan up to six frames of a 35mm filmstrip or four 35mm slides at a maximum optical resolution of 4800x 600 dpi.

Consumers can start to scan in their photos or documents once the scanner is powered on due to the inclusion of a white LED, which eliminates warm-up time.

The 5600F can also scan letter-sized colour documents at a resolution of 300dpi in 11s

It is available now for $149.99.

Canon has also announced the LiDE200 and LiDE100 scanners, which use a Contact Image Sensor (CIS).

The CanoScan LiDE200 has a maximum resolution of 4800x4800dpi while the CanoScan LiDE100 captures at 2400x4800dpi.

Both connect up to a computer using a USB 2.0 cable.

Letter-sized colour documents can be scanned on the LiDE200 in approximately 14s, while on the CanoScan LiDE100 the scan can be completed in 24s at a resolution of 300dpi.

The CanoScan LiDE200 is $89.99 and you will pay $59.99 for the CanoScan LiDE100.
