The UK might be readying itself for the launch of the BlackBerry Bold, but that hasn't stopped leaks of when the more anticipated touchscreen BlackBerry Thunder will be available appearing online.

According to leaks on the web, Verzion, the US mobile operator will launch the touchscreen BlackBerry that will go up against Apple's iPhone on the 13 October in the US.

The phone, whose model number is the 9530, has turned up on a release timetable leaked from the operator prompting the rumour.

Commentators around the web say this fits in nicely with other previous rumours that the handset would see an October launch.

Rumours also suggest that the Thunder will be a Verizon exclusive in the US perhaps implying that it will be a Vodafone exclusive here in the UK.

Pocket-lint has contacted Vodafone, however the operator declined to comment on the story.

Other sources we spoke, while being unable to comment on which operator would be getting the smartphone suggested that the touchscreen interface "Was very nice indeed."

We will keep you posted.
