Casio EX-FH20 40fps digital camera announced

Follows EX-F1 in the fps stakes

Casio has followed its 60 frames per second digital camera, the EX-F1, with a new model that promises a greater megapixel count and more zoom for a cheaper price.

Launching on the eve of Photokina in Cologne, Germany, the new digital camera, the EX-FH20, will sport a 9.1-megapixel sensor, a 20x optical zoom and a bigger 3-inch LCD screen, although offer only 40fps rather than 60fps when it comes to shooting modes.

Still faster than virtually every camera on the market, photographers will be able to use the considerably more compact, however not as robust camera, to capture images of wildlife or sporting events as up to 40 shots can be taken at once, so that’s 40 shots in one second.

Like the EX-F1, the camera will offer a high-speed video mode as well, however like the still image "frames per second" rate, the EX-FH20 capabilities have been reduced to 800 rather than 1600fps.

Users can record beautiful movies at a screen size of 1280 x 720 pixels, at a rate of 30 frames per second. The camera can be connected to an HD compatible television.

The EXILIM Pro EX-FH20 will cost around £499.99 when it becomes available in time for Christmas.
