Delta planning Wi-Fi on domestic US flights

Will be available on all planes by summer 2009

Passengers on board Delta Airlines domestic flights in the US of A will soon be able to check their emails as they soar through the skies.

The carrier has announced that it is going to start rolling out broadband Wi-Fi access for its entire domestic mainline fleet of more than 330 planes.

The access will cost $9.95 on flights of 3 hours or less and $12.95 on flights of more than 3 hours.

"Beginning this fall, our passengers will have the ability to stay connected when they travel with us throughout the continental United States", Richard Anderson, Delta's chief executive officer, told Reuters.

Delta added that it expects the Wi-Fi service to be available on all of its domestic mainline planes by the summer of 2009.

There was no mention of routes outside of the US.
