Google launch Blog search

Google find Blogging links

14 September 2005 18:30 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Google has launched a new search facility that will allow users to search just blogs rather than the whole of world wide web.

The company has also said that it will not be restricting the search to blogs hosted on its own blogging service blogger.

The goal of Blog Search is to include every blog that publishes a site feed (either RSS or Atom) although currently the site only lists published posted from June 2005

Sites wanting to get listed should make sure they automatically ping an updating service such as Weblogs.com.

Blog Search indexes blogs by their site feeds, which will be checked frequently for new content. Because of this, Google is suggesting that Blog Search results for a given blog will update with new content much faster than standard web searches. Also, because of the structured data within site feeds, it is possible to find precise posts and date ranges with much greater accuracy.

You can search a blog by going to blogsearch.google.com
