Comedy Demon video portal launched

Something wicked this way comes

A new website offering comedy from around the world has now gone live.

Comedydemon.com offers full length episodes of popular TV shows including The Catherine Tate Show and Peep Show, as well as interviews with comedians, features, blogs and reviews.

In addition to more than 1000 hours of download-to-own (DTO) content, there will be 2000 free short form clips ranging from 30 seconds to 10 minutes in length, from content deals currently being brokered with the BBC (including BBC Worldwide and BBC Audio), Channel 4, Aardman Animations, Talkback Thames, Momedia, Channel X, Hat Trick Productions and Tiger Aspect.

There's also exclusive live sets from top stand up acts in the notorious Late ‘n’ Live, held at this year’s Edinburgh festival, while award winning writer and comedian, Robin Ince, provides an audio and video blog as he travels the length and breadth of the land performing at over a dozen festivals throughout the year.

Some of the more unusual content will include webisodes of Toyboize (talkbackTHAMES/Navelgazing), the spoof documentary about a boy band reformed 20 years after they were famous (sound familiar?); as well as webisodes of Banzai, the highly stylised faux Japanese game show that involves betting on bizarre and off the wall contests.

And Aardman Animations are creating a brand new comedy short film to launch exclusively on the site later this year.

Along with footage from Late ‘n’ Live, Comedydemon.com is sponsoring So You Think You’re Funny? the Edinburgh Festival Fringe’s most prestigious stand up comedy competition from The Gilded Balloon during August.
