Bang and Olufsen to create better car sound system than your living room

Bang & Olufsen the high-end audio and video manufacturer has for the first time ventured into creating audio equipment in cars. The company's first commission has been to design an audio system for the Audi A8 that will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week.

The result according to the press release is an audio system that will distribute a stereo sound perfectly, no matter where you sit in the car.

The new system has been specially adapted to the conditions inside the car. According to B&O this musical experience is achieved partly by the use of Acoustic Lens Technology normally used in use in the company's free-standing loudspeakers. The speakers ensure an even horizontal dispersion of higher frequencies into the car interior, and partly by digital, patented ICEpower technology, which supplies the 14 speakers with 1,100 watts of power.

In a statement, the company suggests its move into the car audio arena is due to;

“The heavy traffic on the motorways and roads means that going to work or getting to an appointment takes longer than ever. The new Bang & Olufsen sound system makes every trip much more pleasurable, and the driver and passengers can experience unparalleled music quality whilst on the road.”

Unfortunately those hoping to boost their Ford Focus won't be able to buy the sound system without buying the Audi A8.
