Maplin has launches a new 320GB media player to give gadget lovers "the complete digital home theatre system".The device - essentially an external hard drive, with standalone media player - means users can download and store home videos, movies and music on a PC, and then play them back through a TV.
The player contains a DVD playback feature to view ripped movie clips, and offers complete DVD menu support, photo viewer with thumbnail preview, and a newly-added play list function.
The compact unit can also be used as a standard external hard drive for bog-standard files, and comes complete with remote control, and DC 12V mains adaptor.
The system supports MP3, WAV, JPEG, DVD-Video, and DivX formats amongst others. It also has composite, component, SCART and digital audio outputs.
