Apple Newton rumours emerge yet again
Autumn launch for multi-touch tablet

The whispers of Apple re-launching the "Newton" in a noughties style have been bandied around since the touch interface of the iPhone was first revealed, and they have now re-emerged with a new report.
MacDailyNews, who were spot on with their leak about Wi-Fi iTunes, is reporting that the same source that provided them with that news nugget, is talking up a Newton 2.0. The site states:
"Think MacBook screen, possibly a bit smaller, in glass with iPhone-like, but fuller-featured Multi-Touch. Gesture library. Full Mac OS X. This is why they bought P.A. Semi. Possibly with Immersion's haptic tech. Slot-loading SuperDrive. Accelerometer. GPS."
With some people joining the dots between this latest rumour and Steve Jobs' promise of "wonderful new products" to come later this year, if the source is correct, Apple are hoping to go mass-market with this new device:
"Pretty expensive to produce initially, but sold at 'low' price that will reduce margins. Apple wants to move these babies. And move they will. This is some sick sh*t. App Store-compatible, able to run Mac apps, too. By October at the latest."
