Sony Ericsson has announced a new mid-range Walkman phone on Tuesday and it continues to sell the story that for music, it is number one.

Playing on its 3-year-old Walkman brand, the latest handset is the W595, a music-focused mobile phone what promises to be "packed full of innovations that get you and your friends ready to rock".

Supposedly for the "real rocker in you", the W595 Walkman will feature a 2.2-inch QVGA screen and come with a 2GB Memory Stick Micro card that can store around 1900 songs.

The W595 will also sport built-in stereo speakers and a stereo "Share" jack so your best friend can listen in from an additional headset.

The phone will also come with Sony Ericsson's music mood software SensMe that allows you to create playlists from song tempos and the ability to shake the handset to change track.

Other features include Bluetooth, a 3.2-megapixel camera and HSDPA connectivity.

The W595 Walkman phone will be available in selected markets in Active Blue, Cosmopolitan White, Jungle Grey and Lava Black in Q4 of 2008.

The company also announced two more Walkman branded phones on Tuesday: the W902 and the W302.
