Resident Evil 5 gets Friday 13th release date

But you'll have to wait until March next year...

Capcom has confirmed that the fifth chapter in the Residential Evil franchise will be released, ready to scare the daylights out of us, on March 13th, 2009. And yes, that is a Friday if you superstitious nuts were wondering.

The game will be released globally on the same day, so no one will have to moan about having to wait longer to kick some serious zombie butt.

Speaking at Microsoft’s media briefing at E3, the game's producer, Jun Takeuchi, also revealed that there is to be an online co-op feature built into the game for the first time as well.

Speaking via a translator Takeuchi said: “It’s very important for the two people playing together to team up and overcome the various enemies in the game."

As for maybe the slightly longer wait than people would have wanted, he said: “Please hang on a little bit longer and we’ll have it to you very, very shortly.”

Resident Evil 5 is due for release on Xbox 360 and PS3.
