New models to take advantage of new chip

Acer will launch two new laptops in the UK on Wednesday to take advantage of the new Intel Centrino 2 chip announced earlier this week.
The new models, the TravelMate 5730 and the TravelMate 7730, will be focused towards the business market rather than come packed with entertainment features.
The Acer TravelMate 5730 will come with a 15.4-inch display, offer the new Intel chip and feature either an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470/HD 3650 or an Nvidia GeForce 9300M GS graphics card. Following Lenovo's announcement with Vodafone it will also offer WWAN connectivity on 3G on specific models although an operator has yet to be announced. There will of course be the usual array of Wi-Fi connectivity plus all the new benefits of the Intel Centrino 2 chip such as improved battery performance.
The TravelMate 7730 will be the desktop replacement offering and sport a 17-inch WXGA+ widescreen display. The 7730 offers one or two large Serial ATA hard disks for up to 320GB of storage. On the entertainment/storage front it will come with an optional Blu-ray drive.
Pocket-lint is attending the UK launch of the new laptops on Wednesday and will bring you all the details as soon as we can.
We will keep you posted.
