Samsung R710, R560 and R510 notebooks launch

New Montevina-based offerings

Samsung has launched its new range of laptops that offer Intel's new Centrino 2 processor technology.

The R710, described as a "complete all rounder", is a 17-inch widescreen notebook that claims to deliver desktop performance in an lightweight and stylish design

It has a high gloss black lid and "Protect-o-Edge" casing. Weighing 3.08kg, the R710 is apparently one of the lightest 17-inch notebooks in its class.

Other features include DDR3 memory, Windows Vista, Nvidia GeForce 9300/9600 series of graphics cards, b/g/n wireless LAN, 10/100/1000 Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and an integrated digital motion camera, 7 in 1 multi-memory card reader, a full numeric keyboard, PCI Express card slot and four USB ports.

There's also HDMI out for hook-up to a big TV, and optional Blu-ray. The R710 will be available from August 2008, pricing starts from £599 plus VAT.

The R560 is "designed to deliver the powerful 3D graphics performance demanded by gamers and graphic designers".

With similar specs to the R710, it weighs in at 2.7kg, gets an Nvidia GeForce 9600M GS graphics card and a 15.4-inch SuperBright display.

The R560 will be available from August 2008, pricing starts from £699 plus VAT.

The R510 gets the new Intel Centrino 2 tech, Windows Vista and Intel's latest X4500 integrated graphics core, in a combo that Samsung says sets "a new standard in price / performance".

Differences over the previous two models include a 3 in 1 multi-memory card reader and three USB ports.

The R510 will be available from August 2008, pricing starts from £499 plus VAT.

Clean freaks will be happy to note that all the new Samsung notebooks feature an "amazing" Samsung innovation they are calling "Silver Nano Technology".

Apparently by sprinkling incredibly small, nano-sized silver ion powder on the keyboard your system will remain "bacteria free" for longer.
