On the eve of the iPhone 3G launch, with most of the focus on hardware, Apple CEO Steve Jobs has been speaking to USA Today about the launch of the App Store.

Jobs stated that he expected to launch the virtual store with 200 software applications, but confirmed that more than 500 will go live at launch. "The reaction has been so strong", he said. "So many developers responded."

"This is the biggest launch of my career", said Jobs, who also revealed that 25% of the apps will be free, and 90% of the ones for sale will be $9.99 or less.

The App Store is expected to go live Thursday evening, and will launch for iPod touch owners too - but at a price. We'll bring you more info on the launch when we have it.
