Square Enix has announced the release of a new RPG game - exclusive for the iPod
Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes ia available from the iTunes store in either English or Japanese and compatibile with iPod video, iPod classic and iPod Nano.
The game turns your iPod songs into "Tune Troopers" which will be used in battle against the Mechanical Militia. As protagonist Ziggy, you'll be fighting these bad guys to rescue your brother who has been captured by them.
The setting for the game is a place called Melodica. Once a land of music, it has now been overrun by the Mechanoids - a group of people that enhanced their bodies with machinery and became cold, emotionless automatons hell bent on destruction.
The Superstars are the ones fated to fight the tyranny of the machines by turning sound into weapons, and the Conductor - also known as the Song Summoner - can summon powerful warriors born of music.
A turn-based tactics battle system, each side will take turns manoeuvring their forces. Tune Trooper types and abilities are determined by the songs used to create them - you can even power up your troops outside the game by just listening to the songs you used to create them.
The game is available from iTunes for £3.99, so head on over to buy it if you're as intrigued as us.
