Nintendo dismisses rumours of widescreen DS

But is it just calling our bluff?

Nintendo has dismissed talk that it is preparing to unveil a widescreen DS as "purely rumour and speculation".

The rumours cropped up after a Nippon Ichi advert was posted on website Aeropause. It showed the publisher's upcoming titles on a DS with a certainly more sizeable screen.

It would seem from Nintendo's comments that this doesn't suggest much, although it did steer clear of commenting directly on the advert's authenticity.

With E3 just around the corner, there is a possibility Nintendo may be unveiling a redesigned DS there. There's also a possibility the advert artist got a little overzealous with his pen. We'll just have to wait and see.
