The official iPhone operator in the UK, O2, is reeling after a technical website error may have revealed its closely guarded Pay & Go iPhone 3G pricing.

On Wednesday evening the Pay and Go iPhone 3G page on the official O2 website revealed information regarding the costs for Apple's second-gen phone for non-contract customers.

The page was swiftly removed and on Thursday the operator has informed Pocket-lint the incident was merely a "technical error on the website and loaded by mistake".

When we got in touch with O2 regarding the slip, we were informed by a spokesperson that "O2 will neither confirm nor deny" the prices.

The costs that were briefly posted online were £299.99 for the 8GB model and 16GB for £359.99 on any Pay and Go options with a £10 per month data option after 6 months.

  • So an error which proved to be exactly the price they've confirmed?
Why not just admit it in the first place, this just looks dumb.

  • Obviously the details are correct and they just didn't want them to be released yet. Far too expensive for a phone, when you can buy games consoles with a lot more features for far less than what this would cost you.

And the fact Pay & Go customers will be forced to pay monthly for the web features anyway just kills it. There's no point to this.
