The official count for the number of Firefox 3 downloads worldwide has now hit a whopping 10,954,477.But it is the number that took place during the 24 hours that was Mozilla's "Download Day" that will count for the Guinness World Record.
Mozilla says on its website that it got more than 8 million Firefox 3 downloads in 24 hours, but now it's a case of waiting to see if those meticulous chaps at Guinness World Records are going to give them the record or not.
In the meantime, here's some stats for you.
The biggest nation of downloaders was, no surprise, the US of A with 3,288,217 downloads at the last count.
The UK came in at 393, 211 while China clocked 228,370 downloads.
At their busiest the servers were handling more than 9000 downloads per minute.
And, says the Beeb, it only took 5 hours for the number of downloads for Version 3.0 to whallop the 1.6 million set by Firefox 2.0 in October 2006.
But security experts are already having a go at the new browser.
According to the BBC, DV Labs/Tipping Point reported a flaw only 5 hours after Firefox 3.0 debuted.
The flaw potentially lets an attacker take over a PC if a user clicks on a booby-trapped link. Software, Browsers, Mozilla, Firefox, Software updates
