  • I to have been after information on the toshiba P300-148.
i wanted to know what graphics card this model was being shipped with.

this laptop not listed on Toshiba website nor can they give you any tech support on there phone line (which is worrying if it ever goes wrong).

contacted carphone warehouse and they were unable to give me any details either.

i went to 2 carphone warehouse shops and asked to see the P300-148 neither shop had one on display. one shop had the p300-160 and the other the P300-161.

finally got the product code off one of the boxes in stock.

    the product code is PSPC0E

this is the same as the Toshiba P300-19N

this has a shared memory graphics card intel GMA x3100

This card will slow the laptop down as it has to share the 2gig of system memory. leaving less memory to run applications

P.s dont buy this if you are planning on playing any video game, solitaire is about its limits.

    if you go to
    http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-...ist.844.0.html

it lists 130 different laptop graphics cards No:1 being the best to 130 being the worst

the Intel GMA x3100 is ranked 102 (enough said)

if you are looking for a fast laptop you should always look at the graphics card first and go for a dedicated card with at least 256mb. this means the processor and system memory dont have to pick up the slack and can get on doing what there designed for which is running programmes.

  • I saw Toshiba p300-161 on display in the Luton High street branch and have been told by the staff that I will get the same if i pay £199.99 with virgin broad band contract £40.00 per month for 24months. When I received my laptop, it was toshiba P300 -19N.
I asked for the refund for showing toshiba P300-161 and selling the model with half of the specification. It took me two months to get my money back and wasted my 70 hours talk time with different departments.

    Sham on Carphonewarehouse!
