Apple accused of misogyny over iPhone

The old fingernails-on-touchscreen chestnut

The "LA Times" is reporting - seemingly quite seriously - that Apple could be accused of misogyny over the iPhone's touchscreen design.

Reader Erica Watson-Currie of Newport Beach has spoken on behalf of other women who have long nails "as well as people of all genders with chunky fingers" who have "real trouble" typing on the iPhone.

Watson-Currie, who says her fingernails are typically between one-eighth and one-quarter of an inch long, wants the iPhone to include a stylus.

"Considering ergonomics and user studies indicating men and women use their fingers and nails differently, why does Apple persist in this misogyny?" Watson-Currie asks.

May we suggest a little thumb whittling surgery?
