LG Electronics has announced the launch of the Flatron W2252TE, with the claim that it's the the world's most energy efficient monitor.

The 22-inch widescreen LCD offers a 45% reduction (which equates to 40W) in power consumption, giving consumers the knowledge, and peace of mind that comes with it, that they are hurting less polar bears.

Specs are said to be unaffected by the green glow with a 10,000:1 DFC, 2ms response time, 170 degree viewing angle, resolution of 1680 x 1050, but frankly not great 250cd brightness.

Fiona Landsberg, marketing manager, LG Electronics, says, "The W2252TE gives consumers the chance to work, play games, watch movies or surf the internet, safe in the knowledge that they are doing as much as possible to help reduce their impact on the environment".

The W2252TE will be available in the UK from August 2008.
