Recent figures from Hitwise show that Google is still the UK's most popular search engine by a wide margin.

The site enjoyed 87.3% of the UK's web searches in May, a similar figure to April 2008, but compared to a year ago in May 2007, its share was up by 12%.

Troubled search company Yahoo's UK share is less impressive, with searches via its online offering accounting for just over 4% of UK searches in May 2008 - but this figure was up 2% on April.

MSN was the third most popular search site in May according to Hitwise, with 3.7% of UK searches, followed by Ask with 3%.
