Medion launches "Akoya" Eee rival

Yet another ultraportable announced

It seems Medion are the latest manufacturer to jump into the low cost, ultraportable arena with the launch of the "Akoya" sub-notebook that now joins hosts of others on, or due to the market, to rival the Asus Eee family.

Shown off at the recent Computex event in Taiwan, the laptop is an Atom-based 10.2-inch screened offering.

Specification for the new device has been revealed as running Windows XP, 1GB of memory, an 80GB hard drive, 802.11n Wi-Fi, an optional webcam, a three-cell battery and it weighs in at 1 kilogram.

With pricing provided in euros - at 399 (that's around £320) - it's presumed the device will see a European launch, although Medion in the UK says: "We don't have any technical or launch details for the UK at the moment".
