Euro 2008 in full, free high def on Freesat

ITV HD goes live with Portugal vs. Turkey match on Saturday

Freesat, the new, subscription-free, digital satellite TV service from the BBC and ITV has announced that Euro 2008 matches will be available in free high definition on BBC HD and ITV HD.

ITV HD launches on Saturday, exclusively on Freesat, with the first game being shown the Portugal vs. Turkey fixture at 7.45pm.

ITV's high definition coverage will be available to Freesat viewers via the red button. BBC HD will broadcast the opening game of the tournament, Switzerland vs. Czech Republic, at 5.00pm.

In addition to live coverage of Euro 2008, ITV HD is promising a "range of top movies" over the summer as well as the new season of UEFA Champions League, The FA Cup, and England internationals.

BBC's extensive summer of sport includes both Wimbledon and the Olympics in high definition.
