A UK website is offering is users the chance to text love-ones via one quick text in a case of emergency.

Called textOK.com - a solution that will allow users to let all their contacts know they are safe by sending just one text message.

Created following the 7 July bombing attacks in London, users will be able to list up to 20 contacts' email addresses and then alert them by texting “OK” to 60999. Once the text has been received, the service will then send all of their contacts a pre-written email confirming they are OK.

There's no charge to sign up or run an account, and all profit from sending a text, which costs 25p plus a normal SMS, is being split between Friends of the Earth, NCH and Cancer Research UK.
