Apple goes multibutton with the Mighty Mouse

Apple opts for two button mouse for 21st century

Apple has finally realised that people might just want two button control on their mouse and released a new mouse design that features just that but under a seamless shell.

Called the Mighty Mouse, and no relation to the cartoon mouse of the same name, the new model offers users a left and right mouse button, plus a further two programmable buttons.

In addition to the four buttons, Apple has also introduced its take on the scroll wheel. Breaking away from the crowd in usual Apple style, the company has created the Scroll Ball, a control system that allows users scroll in any direction—vertically, horizontally and even diagonally.

All the mouse's buttons are programmable and Apple is hoping users will opt to use them for controlling Dashboard, Expose, Spotlight and other programs.

The new mouse will cost £35 in the UK and $49 in America.
