Asus confirms Eee 900 UK battery issues

UK customers getting low specced battery

26 May 2008 9:30 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Asus has confirmed that it will be shipping the Asus 900 laptop in the UK with an inferior battery to the model that it is shipping in the US.

"Asus offers different solutions in different markets. In EU countries, we use 4400mAh Eee 900. However, we give a two-year warranty within the country you bought the Eee 900."

The news means that mobile workers hoping to get the same, longer battery life as their American counterparts will be disappointed.

In the US the cheap portable laptop ships with 5800mAh batteries, as per the original Eee PC 701 4G, giving considerably more juice on the road.
