London Zoo offers handheld GPS devices

Don't go gadget-free this bank hols

Node has announced its multimedia location-based services will be available at five major tourist destinations across the UK this year.

What does this mean? Well if you get dragged along to London Zoo, or even Stourhead Gardens this weekend, the experience does not need to be gadget-free.

You can opt to get a "Node Explorer", a small, robust handheld devise with GPS technology built-in that triggers content playback dependent on its location.

Arguably better than a flappy, folding map slash info leaflet, the Node Explorers will allow you to listen, watch and interact with video, audio and textual info, that is specifically relevant to where you are and what you are looking at at the attraction.

Catherine Halcrow, of the Zoological Society of London says, "Node is a fantastic addition to London Zoo; it enhances the visitor experience in ways never seen before and the feedback from our visitors has been wonderful".

The Node solution will also be offered at the Eden Project, and two further unannounced London locations this summer.
