As per the Fortune leak earlier this week, Apple has announced that a team of Apple executives, led by CEO Steve Jobs, will kick off the company's annual worldwide developers conference (WWDC) with a keynote address on Monday, 9 June 2008 at San Francisco's Moscone West.

Apple says this year's WWDC will "showcase two revolutionary development platforms, the ground-breaking innovations of OS X Leopard and OS X iPhone, the world's most advanced mobile operating system". No mention of iPhone 2.0, other than from a software point of view, is made.

The 5-day WWDC event, which runs from 9 June to 13 June, will feature the first ever iPhone track for mobile developers with in-depth sessions and hands-on labs promised to "fully explore the capabilities of the OS X iPhone 2.0 software", including the iPhone SDK and the App Store.

The iPhone track will see mobile developers working side by side with Apple engineers to create apps that uses the iPhone's Multi-Touch user interface, animation technology, accelerometer and geographical location technology while the "Mac track" offers the technical foundation and techniques to develop OS X Leopard applications.

Pocket-lint will be bringing you all the news from WWDC08, including coverage of Jobs' keynote, in which he is widely expected to launch the 3G iPhone, so keep it here for the 9 June.
